Our Story

Community Alliance Church is a young church re-start. While there has been an Alliance church in Ballston Spa for many decades, in the early 2010's it was in decline. In 2013 the denomination partnered with Pine Knolls Alliance Church in South Glens Falls to lead our church through a rebuilding process. The first worship service under this new leadership structure took place in September of 2013.

What has happened since then has been an adventure! God has brought together people from the old church, new workers from Pine Knolls, and many newcomers. Everything in the church has been renewed in one way or another. We're committed to developing healthy relationships, growing ministry teams, learning to communicate and plan well, and clarifying our vision. It's exciting to see how God is drawing people from our community into our church family.

In July 2015 Pastor Gary (Joy) Newton was called to be our full-time pastor. Pastor Gary came to us after a 30-year career as a university and seminary professor including 23 years in bi-vocational part-time pastoral ministry and 6 years of full-time pastoral ministry. Joy, who serves along-side Pastor Gary in pastoral counseling with women, also comes to us with years of training and experience. We are also blessed as a church family to have two other gifted, ordained pastors, Pastor Michael Lindsey and Pastor Jack Murphy, who invest many hours in preaching, teaching, mentoring, counseling and discipleship.

On January 18th, 2017, our denomination granted us our independent status as a CMA church,

Since then we are surging ahead to become a “mission-focused church” to our community. We have established an effective outreach to children and families in the Saratoga West Mobile Home Park that includes a Kid’s Club on Saturdays and a Homework Club Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. We have seen several people from our community each year become followers of Christ, get baptized and become a part of our church family. Another strength of our church is the mentoring, teaching and discipling new believers.

As we continue to feed our people with a healthy diet from God’s Word on Sunday morning and Wed nights, we trust God to draw others from our community into our church family and a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
